Qualitues to Look For In A Prospective Husband. - Part 1

Wao terrific week.... A lot of ups and downs.... Now... I want to get serious in this post... Because I will be talking about something spiritual that I learnt in Christian Fellowship. I learnt this quite some time ago but due to some circumstances, I think it is necessary to post this out for my readers, friends, etc...
A short introduction.... Who doesn't long for companionship? Who don't wish to have a person to always be there to support you when you are in trials? A person that pour out unconditional love to you? A person that you can blurt out all your problems and at the same time getting some advice? The list go on and on and on... I think without me saying much most of you all will know what I wanted to convey to you... Yes, you got it right... I will be talking about relationship in this post... Well, there is always a saying that said "Ladies first", so I will be talking about "qualities to look for in a prospective husband" first while "qualities to look for in a prospective wife" in another post =)
Guys, I know this might seems that it doesn't concern you but let me tell you that it is equally important to read it! You can actually take this as a measurement to have a self-check on yourself! Do you have all this qualities? Well, I know it is impossible for everyone to obtain each and every qualities that I stated down here but take this as a challenge for you to be a better guy~
*PLEASE TAKE NOTE*
This is just a guidance for everyone.....
Qualitues to Look For In A Prospective Husband.
1) Does he knows Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour?
2 Corinthians 6:14-18
Do Not Be Yoked With Unbelievers Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belia? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people. "Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you."I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."
(It is clearly written in the bible that we should not yoke with unbeliever. However, God gave us free will to chose whether or not to follow His command or not. Which will you chose? To rebel agaisnt Him? To follow after Him? Before you say anything, think twice on your action.... Is there a time where God try to hurt you? It is written in the bible that His plan is to prosper us and never to harm us... Now... Make your decision...)
1 John 2:3-6
We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.
(Always be careful.... Specially girls... Knowing girls, we always tend to take guys' word for granted as we "love" them... However, claiming yourself as a Christian doesn't mean you are a Christian! Always remember that! How to know whether is he a true Christian? Look at the following.)
1 Corinthians 2:12-14
We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.
(Does he act like a Christian? Is the spirit of God with him?)
Romans 8:12-17
Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation—but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
(Is he born again? Or is he still in his sinful nature? Does he follow the pattern of the world?)
Jeremiah 31:33-34
"This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time," declares the LORD. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest," declares the LORD. "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."
(The moment that a person is born again, God will be with him. The center of his life will be God and nothing else.)
Ezekiel 36:25-27
I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.
Hebrews 10:14-17
because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says: "This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds." Then he adds: "Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more."
2) Does he display the fruit of the Spirit in his life?
Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
(Love - Did he show God's love? Does he loves himself as who he is? Does he loves people around him, including his enermy? Or he have selected people to love? A Christian should love everyone as themselves. Pouring out God's love to everyone around him. Is he doing that?
Joy - He should feel fulfilled and contented in themselves.
Peace - When problems come, what is his first action? Panic? Rush? Or calm down, stop and pray?
Patient - How he deal with people? Do he see the same value in children as adult?
Kindness - Out of own nature, is he kind?
Goodness - Helping people regardless of status, age, gender etc. If he doesn't like something, will he act cruelly as he doesn't like it?
faithful - Is he faithful or is he a person who go according to the "wind" direction?
gentleness - Is he gentle? Does he knows in which situation he should be soft?
self-control - Is he good at controlling himself? His anger, temptation etc)
3) Does he have a hunger and a thrist for God's word? Does he read it and study it? Is it the foundation and framework of his thinking?
Psalm 19:7-11
The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous. 10 They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.
2Timothy 3:15-17
and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 2:15
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
John 8:30-32
Even as he spoke, many put their faith in him. To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
Titus 2:5
to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.
(Is he always lead by feeling or God? Does he make decision based on God's word or own desires?)
4) What are his goals? Are they to glorify God and does he delight in Him? or are they self-focused; for example, on a successful career or financial success?
1 Corinthians 10:31
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
Psalm 37:4-6
Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
5) Does he realise that the sins of the parents are cisited on children, and the reason, purpose and implications of that?
Exodus 20:5
You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,
Exodus 34:7
maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation.
(Does he realise his family weakness and take the effort to change it?)
6) Will he be able to be my spiritual leader?
1 Corintians 11:3
Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.
(Good husband will be the one who looks at spiritual things rather than worldly things. If he didn't even knows his own mistakes, will you want to submit to such person?)
7) Will he knows how to apply God's word in my life to sanctify me?
Ephesians 5:25-27
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.
8) Does he love to meet with God's people?
Hebrews 10:24-25
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching
9) Is he faithful? Does he keep his word no matter what it costs? Does he do what he says he will do?
Luke 16:10
Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.
10) Does he seek the good of others or does he just look out for his own interests?
Phil 2:3-4
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
(Is he giving you the same treatment as others? If yes, then it is a good thing. It showed that he is consistence in his attitude. Love should be spiritual first then only passion)
